About Young Vic
Great shows for great audiences - now and in the future
We aim to create and present great productions of the great plays of the world repertoire to audiences of all ages and backgrounds; to nurture the talent of younger theatre professionals; to develop a love of theatre amongst young people
We are this country's leading home for younger theatre artists, especially directors. We present seasons of work by new directors in tandem with productions by some of the great directors of the world. By mingling youth and experience, ambition and genius the Young Vic has become one of the most exciting theatres in the country.
Many people, especially the young, believe that theatre belongs to 'other people' of another class or another generation. But artists create for the whole world. So for each of our main house shows we prepare an extensive programme of Teaching, Participation and Research aimed at our local schools and colleges. We offer on-stage workshops, an annual Schools' Theatre Festival and packs of resource material for every production.
Around 100,000 people visit us in London each year and thousands more on tour. We keep our prices as low as we can and make a priority of finding new audiences. Our Funded Ticket Scheme offers free tickets to all school age children in Lambeth and Southwark and our innovative 'Two Boroughs Project' offers every local resident of Lambeth and Southwark the chance to visit one of our productions for nothing.
We believe a theatre should be a place of energy, intelligence and pleasure.
