Jerwood Directors Award
The Jerwood Directors Award at the Young Vic 2007
The Young Vic and the Jerwood Charitable Foundation are committed to providing opportunities for directors to develop their craft and to expand their knowledge and practice. Since its creation in 2001 the Jerwood Award at the Young Vic has supported 18 directors at various stages of their career.
The 2007 award will provide opportunities for two directors to make work for the smallest of the Young Vic’s new theatres, The Clare. The 2007/8 award combines the freedom to experiment in a supportive, low-risk environment but with the opportunity to present work to an audience.
We are looking for directors who:
• Have already demonstrated a talent for and a commitment to directing.
• Have directed between one and five professional productions. A professional production is defined as show which involves professional actors (paid or unpaid), and runs for more than two weeks. It does not include shows at university or drama school.
• Demonstrate a commitment to originality and a desire to expand their understanding of theatre practice.
