Belarus Free Theatre at the Young Vic
"WHEN PEOPLE ARE BEING KIDNAPPED AND KILLED, YOU HAVE TO TAKE ACTION..."
In 2010 going to the theatre is a crime. People travel far from their homes, directed by text message to a secret spot in the countryside for a glimpse of a performance. Audiences are arrested – supporters are kidnapped, imprisoned and killed. This isn’t fiction. This is Belarus.
At 6pm on Sunday 5 December, at the Young Vic, with guest appearances from Adjoa Andoh, Jude Law,
Ian McKellen, Sienna Miller and Samuel West.
Belarus Free Theatre present two short plays:
Numbers and Discover Love
This groundbreaking event is a fundraiser for supporters of free speech in Belarus and a show of support from the British arts community for one of the most acclaimed political theatre companies in the world.
“They have a stunning vocal and physical command, performing with ease and urgency material that combines both verbatim and physical theatre, as well as utilising projected video and still images of great beauty alongside pounding live music”
