ENO and the Young Vic return with another cutting-edge theatrical experience, hot on the heels of two sold-out seasons and a South Bank Show Award.

Director Fiona Shaw - one of the finest actresses of her generation, who burst onto the opera scene with ENO's acclaimed production of Riders to the Sea in 2008 - now returns with a new production of Hans Werner Henze's 20th-century dramatic masterpiece.

'The only chance to see the greatest living opera composer in the theatre this year' The Guardian

Featuring a potent dramatic text by W. H. Auden and his partner Chester Kallman, this rarely-performed work offers a savagely witty - and sometimes wryly self-referential - expose of the creative ego and its insatiable need to feed off all around it.

Step into an immersive, icy world that captures the work's dramatic setting in a remote inn high in the Alps, as the Young Vic is transformed by a stellar creative team in this highly-anticipated new production.
