Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer work experience?
Please see our work experience section which can be found by clicking on "Lambeth & Southwark" within this section of the website.
Do you provide workshops in schools?
The Young Vic works closely with schools in South East London, particularly with those from Lambeth and Southwark, and provides them with a wide range of activity including workshops. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to provide workshops for schools outside of this geographic area.
Does the Young Vic run INSET days?
The Young Vic doesn't run INSET days, but does run Teachers' Evenings and Teachers' Workshops. For more information please contact alexbrierley@youngvic.org
Can you recommend plays to be performed by young people?
There are a limited number of plays for large casts of young people. The Young Vic's productions of Grimm Tales and More Grimm Tales are worth considering and are published by Faber and Faber. The National Theatre have developed a range of plays as part of National Theatre New Connections and the scripts can be obtained from the National Theatre bookshop. Alternatively the Offstage bookshop in Chalk Farm (opposite the Round House) is a good source of ideas.
Does the Young Vic run a Youth Theatre?
The Young Vic does not have a Youth Theatre, but we do run projects and workshops for young people who live or go to school in Lambeth and Southwark. For information about other youth theatres and groups your local library may have a copy of Contacts or the British Performing Arts yearbook. Both books list theatres around the country along with their contact details. You could also try the National Association of Youth Theatres www.nayt.org.uk
Will the Young Vic complete student's questionnaires?
If students have specific questions about the Young Vic it always best for them to contact Claire on 020 7922 8400 or to e-mail alexbrierley@youngvic.org before sending in their questions. If possible we will set up a face to face meeting.
However we would strongly recommend you look at the Student Project Information and Frequently Asked Questions sections of this site first.
