Working with Us

Working in the arts industry can be one of the most unique, rewarding, challenging and enjoyable opportunities that people face in their working lives. An increasing number of people from more 'traditional' industries are catching-on and transferring their skills to the live arts sector. The Young Vic positively encourages new staff from different backgrounds with different experiences, skills and stories to influence and develop our work.

Like most theatres, working at the Young Vic is a relaxed affair. There are no suits, just a creative atmosphere with a great social life and a shared determination to achieve as much as we possibly can. Every working day is different, we utilise people's traditional skills such as administration and finance and combine them with the skills of artists, actors and technicians.

We firmly believe that people are an arts organisation's most valuable asset, and we make a considerable investment in time and resources in our 'Young Vic People'. There are many opportunities to develop and build a long-term, successful career in the arts, and it's our aim to ensure that all staff fulfil their ambition and potential for the future of our industry.

We offer competitive salaries, comparable or favourable to others within the not-for-profit sector, as well as a variety of benefits, including

  • Interest free season ticket loan scheme
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Staff discount at our caf & bar
  • A unique training and development scheme, encouraging and funding short and long term work related training needs
  • Study Assistance Scheme, offering each staff member a small yearly bursary to help towards the cost of any course they wish to undertake, from tap dancing or carpentry, to sculpture, basketball or jazz dance
  • The opportunity to sit on a staff policy panel and play a role in reviewing and developing the Young Vic's staff welfare, training, recruitment and communication policies
