Ria Parry, Director and workshop leader says…

‘Working as a theatre director has enabled me to explore in detail the techniques actors can use to deliver ideas, and to present their character and intentions. In the sessions it’s great to see people become more aware of how best to use our physicality and voice in the workplace, and how we can communicate more successfully with others. It is fascinating to see how truly transferable these skills are to the business world, and to witness an increase in confidence and development in communication skills within the safe, supportive environment of the Young Vic.’

Case studies

Slaughter and May
Used the Young Vic directors to lead innovative employee experience training and communication skills workshops for their vacation scheme participants. The workshops were followed by drinks receptions and dinners in the Young Vic’s unique spaces, enabling the students to meet with the firm's Partners.

Bloomberg
We ran a series of five Directing Skills workshops at the Bloomberg, using the play text of our main house show to explore storyboarding, leadership, creative thinking and feedback skills.

JPMorgan
Acting workshops were given to gain an understanding of how an actor develops his character, developing skills in communicating to an audience, improved use of voice and breathing, giving feedback, physical presence and body language. This followed a Directing workshop exploring how managers can get the most out of their team, exploring leadership, assertion skills and tools for influencing.
