Time to Act
The Time to Act campaign was launched on February 10th 2004 by Campaign Patron Jude Law. It is the public campaign to raise funds to rebuild the Young Vic Theatre.
With £10m already under our belt (including Arts Council Lottery funding of £6.25m, £1m from the Waterloo Project Board and ‘leadership gifts’ from our own Board, Friends and some major Trusts) we launched an appeal to find the final £2.5m.
‘Time to Act’ has brought us to £12.1m, leaving just £350,000 to raise before September. In July 2006 our brilliant and generous Chairman Patrick McKenna announced a ‘match challenge’. He has pledged to match any gifts made to the campaign, pound for pound, up to a total of £100,000. This means we only have to find a new £200,000, which, added to Patrick’s match-giving and gift aid will result in the £350,000 we desperately need.
Put it another way: if 200 people gave us £1,000 each, payable in monthly installments of £83 (equivalent to £3 per day – the price of a single tube ticket) we’d have completed the Appeal. Easy peasy!
