Making young people passionate about theatre is at the heart of everything we do on and off stage. Our work with young people in schools and colleges is central to this.
Our Schools and colleges programme works with south London state schools – primary, secondary, SEN, colleges and FE – all year round to introduce young people to theatre both as an audience member and as a practitioner.
Schools groups outside of South London are entitled to discounted tickets to all of our productions and we make comprehensive resource packs freely available on our website.
The majority of the work is tied in with the professional productions at the Young Vic enabling schools to work with professional theatre makers.
For example, last year (2008/9) 158 schools and colleges benefited from our Funded Ticket Scheme and 269 free opportunities were provided for teachers, including free tickets, professional development workshops, access to theatre professionals and termly forums.
