18 to 25 yearsOver the past five years we have developed three vocational opportunities: Centre Stage, Introduction to Directing and Backstage Pass - projects for actors, directors and theatre technicians. These intensive projects aim to develop and extend your skills and help you gain further experiences for future theatre careers.
If you have been involved with other Young Vic projects and are considering becoming a professional actor, Centre Stage will give you the support to help make it happen. It will give you the information and experience to consider seriously acting as a career.
We’ll introduce all the options available and help you decide what might be right for you. You’ll find out what to expect at drama school from the professionals who run them and the actors who have been there. There will also be the opportunity to try different rehearsal methods and work on monologues for auditions.

If you’ve considered directing, we can help give you the skills and confidence to take your interest a step further.
Through practical sessions with professionals from the Young Vic, you’ll focus on the role a director plays in creating theatre. You’ll find out about the ins and outs of rehearsing, working with a creative team and how to cope with being at the very centre of a production. You will also receive information about the Young Vic’s Directors Network. Accomplished directors are on hand throughout to share their experience and give one-to-one advice as you plan your future.

Backstage Pass will show you the range of behind-the-scenes jobs theatre technicians carry out and give you the chance to try them for yourself. In practical sessions you'll learn from experienced theatre production teams before being given the opportunity to take up paid placements in either industry.
