A Statement from the Young Vic - 20 March 2020

Following UK government advice, we have now made the difficult decision to cancel our current production of Nora and postpone our upcoming productions of Orfeus and Conundrum. LIFT Festival has also cancelled their 2020 festival, which includes our co-production of The Second Woman.

We ask that you please bear with our small but brilliant Welcome Team as they deal with a huge number of ticket holders for the above shows.

As a charity, we rely on ticket sales for a substantial portion of our income, and the insecurity ahead is a huge worry for those who work for and with us, as it is for the theatre sector as a whole. Therefore - if you can afford to - please consider donating the price of your ticket, or another amount however large or small, to the Young Vic.

Academy Award-nominee Ruth Negga makes her Young Vic debut as Portia Coughlan in Marina Carr’s haunting play, directed by Caroline Byrne

There's a wolf tooth growin in me heart and it's turnin me from everywan and everythin I am.

It's Portia Coughlan’s thirtieth birthday. It is also the fifteenth anniversary of the death of her twin brother, Gabriel. Can she untether her soul from her dead twin and live in the real world, or will she surrender to her grief and reunite with her brother? On this fateful day can Portia Coughlan change her story? Or was it ever her story to begin with?

Portia Coughlan is a profound and disturbing story about love and kinship, examining how the history of the family is the history of a nation.
