Ayesha Antoine plays The Novice in debbie tucker green's trade. This sold-out darkly humorous play about the costs of sex is directed by Bryony Shanahan, winner of a 2016 Genesis Future Directors Award.

Can you describe your character in trade in three words?
Young, brash, fun-seeking.

What’s it been like working with Bryony Shanahan?
Full of laughter, precision and balls.

If you could be in a room full of any one thing, what would it be?
Love!!

What are you usually doing 10 minutes before the show begins?
Staring at myself in the mirror, picking a spot.

What is your favourite play (seen, read or worked on)?
Oooh… difficult one!  The House That Will Not Stand by Marcus Gardley was unforgettable, King Lear by William Shakespeare; The Mountaintop by Katori Hall…. Soooo many!

What is your favourite midnight snack?
Scrambled eggs on crackers.

What first got you interested in theatre?
Christmas panto at Theatre Royal Stratford East.

Where is your favourite place in the world?
My bed, my mum’s kitchen, Central Park, Dominica… Anywhere I can find love, peace, sunshine and natural beauty.

If days were 28 hours long, what would you do with the 4 extra hours?
Sleep or dance!

If you could have been born in any era, which would it be and why?
Ancient Egypt.

If you could have any one supernatural power which would you choose and why?
Mind-reading / mind control – because free will is overrated!
