A Statement from the Young Vic - 20 March 2020

Following UK government advice, we have now made the difficult decision to cancel our current production of Nora and postpone our upcoming productions of Orfeus and Conundrum. LIFT Festival has also cancelled their 2020 festival, which includes our co-production of The Second Woman.

We ask that you please bear with our small but brilliant Welcome Team as they deal with a huge number of ticket holders for the above shows.

As a charity, we rely on ticket sales for a substantial portion of our income, and the insecurity ahead is a huge worry for those who work for and with us, as it is for the theatre sector as a whole. Therefore - if you can afford to - please consider donating the price of your ticket, or another amount however large or small, to the Young Vic.

Charitable Trusts and Foundations have a long history of supporting the Young Vic’s work both on stage and off. Together we achieve things we never could alone.

Support the work on our stages

The Young Vic is a world leading home for theatre artists. We produce over 20 shows a year across our three spaces and keep our ticket prices low and accessible. At our core, we nurture artists. Our program of trail blazing work encourages directors to experiment and achieve artistic excellence.

"The Young Vic is London’s most lovable theatre. The building welcomes; the programming dares. It offers danger in a safe place. "

- The Observer

Engage young people, schools and local residents

Taking Part is our extensive learning, community and participation program. Activities are offered free of charge to engage those who might not otherwise be able to participate. Each year, we work with over 15,000 people in our local boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. Our projects are inspired by the work on our stages and build skills, enhance confidence and raise aspirations.

"Wow, what an incredible journey the past 4 months was for me. I think it is one of the highlights of my life"

Nurture the talent of the future

Training and development of directors’ craft is at the heart of Kwame Kwei-Armah’s artistic vision. He encourages directors to experiment on our stages, giving them the resources, creative support and time necessary to try out new approaches and make the work they couldn’t create anywhere else. From our Directors Program activities, workshops, placements and training opportunities, there are many ways to support our work.

"The work of the Young Vic and their dedication to supporting new directors is second to none. Working there has changed my life”

- A member of the Genesis Directors Network, 2016
