Everlasting, a Taking Part project from Jay Jay Revlon and Young Vic

Everlasting will explore the rich and enduring legacy of the Ballroom scene celebrating and honouring the icons, legends, and community that has, for decades, provided sanctuary for Black and Global Majority Queer young people.

Supported by Southwark Council as part of Southwark Pride, this project celebrates both personal and House histories of the Ballroom scene, created especially for young people.

Through the Everlasting exhibition, workshops, and advice sessions, we’re creating a space where young people can feel Pride by connecting with an incredible legacy - documented by their community, for their community, and for their future.

Over three days in The Clare Studio, students will be able to experience images taken and curated by Jay Jay Revlon, attend a presentation on the history of Ballroom, join a panel talk, and take part in workshops and advice sessions.

Born and raised in Peckham, Jay Jay Revlon is a key figure and pioneer of the London Ballroom scene for over 10 years, and has played a pivotal role in shaping how the UK’s Ballroom community operates. As Overseer of the UK House of Revlon, Overall House Father of the Kiki House of Maison Laveaux, and founder of the Kiki House of Tea, Jay Jay is a leading figure in Ballroom culture across the UK and Spain.

Exhibition Presentation and Panel Talk

Join us on Wednesday 25 June for a special event launching the Everlasting exhibition.

We'll explore the rich and enduring legacy of the Ballroom scene - celebrating and honouring the icons, legends, and vibrant community that, for decades, has provided sanctuary for Black and Global Majority Queer young people.

Through a powerful exhibition and presentation, Jay Jay Revlon will take us on a journey through the history and impact of Ballroom culture in London and around the world.

Then stick around for a Panel Talk on sexual health and wellbeing - an open, real conversation that looks at the bigger picture of what it means to care for yourself and each other as young people today.
