A Statement from the Young Vic - 20 March 2020

Following UK government advice, we have now made the difficult decision to cancel our current production of Nora and postpone our upcoming productions of Orfeus and Conundrum. LIFT Festival has also cancelled their 2020 festival, which includes our co-production of The Second Woman.

We ask that you please bear with our small but brilliant Welcome Team as they deal with a huge number of ticket holders for the above shows.

As a charity, we rely on ticket sales for a substantial portion of our income, and the insecurity ahead is a huge worry for those who work for and with us, as it is for the theatre sector as a whole. Therefore - if you can afford to - please consider donating the price of your ticket, or another amount however large or small, to the Young Vic.

We want you to enjoy your visit to the Young Vic. We don't want you to worry about what to expect. Just watch, enjoy, engage and if you feel inspired, tell someone.

When should I arrive?

Doors to the theatre open between quarter and half an hour before the performance starts. Half an hour is plenty of time to collect tickets, get a programme, buy a drink and catch your breath - before we take it away again.

If you arrive late then you may be asked to wait until a suitable break in the performance before you enter and sometimes you may not be able to enter at all. We only do this if it's necessary to avoid disrupting the production and it will be clearly stated on your ticket. If you have any concerns, please contact the Box Office on 020 7922 2922 or email

Where will I sit?

The Young Vic gives theatre artists the freedom to create without barriers, so we have the most flexible auditorium in London. Seating will never be quite the same from one show to the next. In our Main House, reserved seating allows you to choose your own seat when booking - just click on the 'Book tickets' link on the individual show page. We operate an 'unreserved house' in The Maria and The Clare, which means that your ticket won't have a seat number on it and you can choose where to sit when you arrive. You'll find any extra seating information for each production in our What's on section.

Lucky Dip Tickets

Lucky Dip tickets are a great way to see our shows for just £10. These are guaranteed standing tickets, however, the 'Lucky Dip' element means that at the performance you may be lucky enough to be upgraded into a seat - sometimes with the best views in the house!

PLEASE NOTE: Lucky Dip tickets are not allocated positions. This means that you will not find out which area you will be watching the show from until just before the start of the performance. As Lucky Dip tickets may be standing, please do not book if you are unable to stand for the duration of the performance. Where you end up is at the discretion of the front-of-house team. We cannot guarantee you will get a seat rather than standing, or guarantee your party will be positioned together.
