A Statement from the Young Vic - 20 March 2020

Following UK government advice, we have now made the difficult decision to cancel our current production of Nora and postpone our upcoming productions of Orfeus and Conundrum. LIFT Festival has also cancelled their 2020 festival, which includes our co-production of The Second Woman.

We ask that you please bear with our small but brilliant Welcome Team as they deal with a huge number of ticket holders for the above shows.

As a charity, we rely on ticket sales for a substantial portion of our income, and the insecurity ahead is a huge worry for those who work for and with us, as it is for the theatre sector as a whole. Therefore - if you can afford to - please consider donating the price of your ticket, or another amount however large or small, to the Young Vic.

Sneak peek at the stunning costumes of Orfeus: A House Music Opera

Earlier this month we were delighted to announce that acclaimed fashion designer Ozwald Boateng will be designing costumes for the World Premiere of Orfeus: A House Music Opera, which opens at the Young Vic this Spring. We visited Ozwald's studio to give you an exclusive first look at his ideas and inspirations for the costumes of the show...

Blurring the lines of opera, house music and theatre, Nmon Ford’s Orfeus makes its World Premiere at the Young Vic this April, directed by Charles Randolph-Wright (Motown: The Musical).

Set in the near future, this unique production blends music genres and performance into a timeless version of Ovid’s legend. Orfeus confronts his true nature to save the beautiful poet Euridice from his father Pluto, the fascist ruler of a dystopian empire.

Cast includes Nmon Ford as Orfeus with Gianni ArancioBernadette BanguraFranc D’AmbrosioGrace FarrellFiona FinsburyNathan KileyFabiane Leame and Shaq Taylor.
