About audio description
Audio description is a live verbal commentary on the visual elements of a production. It is delivered in-between dialogue on stage and is picked up by an easy-to-use headset. About speech-to-text transcription (STT)
STT is similar to live subtitles. A highly-trained professional uses a specially designed phonetic keyboard and software to transcribe the actors’ words verbatim. The text will appear on the caption unit slightly after it is spoken.
About Relaxed Performances
Relaxed Performances welcome people with learning disabilities and/or sensory and communication impairments. During the show, audience members should feel comfortable making noise and moving around as and when they need to in a friendly environment.
About Safe Space Performances
All Young Vic performances are open to everyone but the safe space performance of How To Win Against History is designed especially for people who would benefit from a more informal experience - We will ensure that you are able to come and go as you wish and that the auditorium is a welcoming space for you. Complimentary tickets are available for accompanying carer.

Infrared amplification system
The Young Vic has an infrared amplification system for use by patrons during performances. Headsets can be collected from our Front of House team upon arrival at the theatre. Please let us know when you book if you want to take advantage of the system. The box office counter also has an induction loop service.
