Are you aged 18-25?

Do you live, work or study in Lambeth or Southwark?

Do you have a story idea but don’t how to finish it?

If this sounds like you, then this the workshop for you to learn how to finish the unfinished.

ROUGH DRAFT is a one-day guided workshop for Theatre-makers who have an idea in progress, or a draft that isn’t quite working yet. This workshop will focus on storytelling, structure, and practical tools to help move a rough draft forward. Through short writing exercises, guided discussion, and peer feedback, participants will explore how stories take shape, why drafts get stuck, and how to identify what a piece needs next.

Attendees will develop and refine a short play, gain new perspectives on their work, and connect with other creatives in a supportive, low-pressure environment. By the end of the session, you will leave with a clearer understanding of story structure, concrete tools to apply to your own projects, and the confidence to keep developing your work beyond the draft stage.

When: Friday 20th February 2026 - 11:00-19:00

Where: Young Vic Theatre - 66 The Cut, Waterloo, SE1 8LZ

During this workshop you will:

· Learn how to write an idea from start to finish and the different methods used to do so
· Work in groups to draft a short story from scratch to share back at the end
· Leave the room with a clearer idea of how to materialise your ideas
· Foster connections/ a creative community that you can work with outside of the workshop

ROUGH DRAFT Eligibility:

· Aged between 18-25.
· You must live, work or study in Lambeth or Southwark.
· An interest in playwriting or developing ideas.
· You must be able to commit to the whole day.

Please note that you do not need to have experience in scriptwriting but would be open to writing and devising for the day.
