A Statement from the Young Vic - 20 March 2020

Following UK government advice, we have now made the difficult decision to cancel our current production of Nora and postpone our upcoming productions of Orfeus and Conundrum. LIFT Festival has also cancelled their 2020 festival, which includes our co-production of The Second Woman.

We ask that you please bear with our small but brilliant Welcome Team as they deal with a huge number of ticket holders for the above shows.

As a charity, we rely on ticket sales for a substantial portion of our income, and the insecurity ahead is a huge worry for those who work for and with us, as it is for the theatre sector as a whole. Therefore - if you can afford to - please consider donating the price of your ticket, or another amount however large or small, to the Young Vic.

A Statement from the Young Vic | 17 March 2020

By anthonylee 17 Mar 2020

Following UK Government advice issued yesterday that the general public should avoid theatres, the Young Vic has made the difficult decision to close its doors to audiences until further notice. In addition to the previously announced cancellation of Nora: A Doll’s House, we have ceased rehearsals for our upcoming production of Orfeus, and have postponed the production. Rehearsals have also been ceased and production postponed for Conundrum, created by our Associate Company Crying in the Wilderness Productions.

Ticket holders for the above shows will be contacted in the next 7 working days by the Young Vic Welcome Team, in order to arrange exchanges and credit notes. We ask you please bear with our small but brilliant team as they assist with this process. In order to manage this process as efficiently as possible for you all, we kindly request you wait for us to be in touch directly with you.

The health and wellbeing of our audiences, staff and artists continues to remain our upmost priority in every decision we take. Young Vic staff are being encouraged to work from home where possible. At this time, the Young Vic building will remain open, and we are currently exploring how we can best continue to serve our community over the coming weeks and months.

Further updates will be posted on our website and across our social media channels as our position becomes clearer.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our audiences for the extraordinary support we have received over the last 24hrs, in this period of huge uncertainty.
